Support Worker

Responsibilities:
1. Encourage the people we support to make their own choices about everyday things such as what to wear, what to do, what to eat, as well as bigger decisions such as where to live, how to spend their money or where to go on holiday.
2. Enable the people we support to be able to fulfil those choices, including structured activities which help each individual to develop their confidence and skills.
3. Enable the people we support to meet their responsibilities such as paying bills, looking after their homes, being good neighbours and keeping in close contact with friends and family.
4. Enable the people we support to be involved in Company-related activities such as being involved in training, recruitment of new staff and going to house meetings.
How will you do this:
1. Support me to carry out normal household tasks.
2. Understand principles of respect and dignity.
3. Have patience and empathy.
4. Be able to support a person with their intimate personal care with dignity and respect.
5. Have good communication skills which can be adapted to suit the situation.
6. Be able to speak on behalf of others as well as to a range of professional people within and outside of Cartrefi Cymru.
7. Have good written skills and the ability to record events with empathy and meaning.
8. Have a basic ability to use a computer to keep simple records and find information.
9. Have good observational skills.
10. Have the ability to work as part of a team.
11. Have the ability to work to consistent standards.
12. Have the ability to make decisions and follow them through.
13. Be creative.
14. Be organised.
15. Be able to manage and record finances.
16. The ability to drive and the use of your own vehicle is essential.
