Salary: £40,476 - £43,693 per annum (pro-rata) (rising by annual increments to £43,693). More information on salaries and progression can be found on our pay and policies page.
Hours: Part Time – negotiable 22 to 30 hours per week (Full time 37 hours covering a Duty Rota will also be required to be covered, one week in six).
Location: The service encourages flexible working and is open to flexible working options. The role will be based at Dorchester Support Offices, Poundbury with the flexibility to work from home / DWFRS Stations / Support Offices. There will be a requirement to attend your base location approximately two days a month for key activities and meetings.

As a Civil Contingencies Officer in the Civil Contingencies Unit you will:
* Provide expert, specialist, professional, practical and authoritative emergency planning and business continuity advice, support and guidance in accordance with the principles of Integrated Emergency Management (IEM).
* Create, deliver and develop appropriate response plans, protocols, and training as required.
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with partner agencies, representing the Dorset Civil Contingencies Unit at meetings or events.
* Support the coordination of multi-agency debriefs and ensure recommendations are recorded.
* Chair and lead multi-agency Task and Finish Groups and Standing Capability Groups of the Dorset Local Resilience Forum.
What makes you our ideal Civil Contingencies Officer?
* A recognised emergency planning qualification to degree level, or significant experience in a relevant organisation.
* Sound knowledge of legislation pertaining to emergency planning including the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
* Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude to customer care.
* High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to influence and manage outcomes.
Other Information:
* You must have a full current driving licence and be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the role.
* The role involves some evening and weekend working, especially when covering Duty Week on a one in six-week basis.
* A Standard Disclosure & Barring Service Check (DBS) clearance will be undertaken on the successful individual prior to offer of employment.
* The successful candidate will also be subject to a Police Baseline Vetting process.
