What you’ll be doing:
1. Understanding the Transitional Protection consultations, policy documents and regulations to ensure familiarity with the remedy activity.
2. Reading through specialist subject matter documents from the Department for Education (DfE) and HM Treasury.
3. Attending process and system walkthrough sessions and arranging meetings with the relevant Subject Matter Experts.
4. Maintaining a knowledge bank, recording outstanding questions from meetings, and gathering answers, to be stored in a central log, maintained by PAT Team, but available for all areas of Teachers’ Pensions to view in a shared location.
5. Closing personal knowledge gaps and also those of other members of the workstream team.
6. Providing documented guidance, issuing briefing notes, and liaising with the DfE and the Government Actuary’s Department where that guidance is unclear.
7. Be the main point of contact for any technical referrals in relation to specific and generic queries and provide support to operations for continuous improvement.
8. Use of Excel to analyse data relating to the Transitional Protection remedy.
9. Identifying process gaps and supporting in closing these gaps. i.e., by helping draft member communications, input into processes, providing or reviewing briefing notes and ensuring that work instructions are consistent with the remedy.
10. Providing content to a designated Business Analyst on the specific subject area to form part of a Transitional Protection knowledge centre.
11. Consulting with members of the PAT Team or the Head of the PAT Team where required to obtain or cascade information.
12. Signing off PAT Team approval on documents where requested.
13. Working with the Teachers' Pensions Engagement Team to update communications relating to the Teachers' Pension Scheme.
14. Working closely with the Department for Education’s Policy Team and providing regular update reports.
15. Participating in Cross Whitehall Meetings and also discussions with HM Treasury.
16. Liaising with Business Analysts and Data Analysts to analyse data and report on the implications for the TPS.
17. Reviewing draft legislation/regulations and providing feedback to the Department.
18. Ensuring that amended processes or IT developments reflect revised regulations.
19. Assisting with or reviewing any consultation documents.
20. Updating the Teachers’ Pensions Decisions Document in relation to Transitional Protection.
21. Working with the Government Actuary’s Department in connection with c hanges to factors, if required (including any revisions or calculations required for a pension flexibilities options exercise).
What we’re looking for:
22. Ability to work independently and to understand each area of Transitional Protection, consulting with outside bodies or the other areas of the business where any policy is unclear.
23. Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
24. A good standard of pensions knowledge (preferred but not essential)
25. Ability to research and interpret and effectively communicate legislation/guidance.
26. Ability to work independently and in a team environment, working under pressure.
27. Be highly organised and able to manage workloads within strict deadlines.
28. An ability to identify trends and develop solutions to improve member experience – possessing a high attention to detail and accuracy.
29. The ability to use Microsoft Office Applications relevant to the role, at the required level. Must be proficient in the use of Excel.
