As a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, you’ll play a crucial role in helping individuals on their journey to recovery, providing specialist support and interventions tailored to their unique needs.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Empowering Individuals
* Manage a caseload of service users, creating personalised recovery plans to help them overcome addiction.
* Facilitate assessments and interventions, working collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure holistic support.
* Guide individuals through structured treatment and self-sustained recovery, helping them reintegrate into the community.
Partnership & Collaboration
* Work closely with health professionals, local authorities, and support organisations to create seamless pathways to recovery.
* Support families and carers, reducing the impact of substance misuse on loved ones and promoting positive involvement in recovery.
* Ensure effective risk assessments and safeguarding procedures are in place to protect both clients and the wider community.
Driving Results & Making an Impact
* Deliver high-quality psychosocial interventions, both one-to-one and in group settings, to help service users build coping strategies and resilience.
* Take an innovative approach to harm reduction, supporting individuals with detox programs, BBV screening, and access to essential health services.
* Provide tenancy and financial support, helping clients develop independence and stability.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential Skills & Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards this).
* Strong knowledge of substance misuse, harm reduction strategies, and safeguarding procedures.
* Experience in engaging clients with complex needs using a compassionate, person-centered approach.
* Ability to assess risks, develop recovery plans, and maintain accurate case records.
* Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—to liaise with clients, colleagues, and partner agencies.
Desirable Skills
* Professional qualification in addiction studies, social work, or counselling.
* Experience using case management systems and Microsoft Office tools.
* Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and ITEP.
