Interviews to be scheduled The successful candidate will be expected to support the Orthoplastic Trauma service and skin cancer SSMDT. The job plan will include a monthly Saturday operating session to help support the Trust’s move towards seven day working and to assist in achieving and maintaining our 18 week targets, specifically in the areas of Admitted, Non-Admitted and Two Week Wait targets. The Plastic surgery service is delivered over 2 sites at UHCW NHS Trust and Rugby Hospital. Plastic surgery in-patients are cared for on Ward 52 and 53, the surgical day unit and Rugby Surgical Day Unit. There is also an outpatient department with dedicated plastic surgery dressing’s clinics. The day surgery unit provides facilities for day case care. Inpatient surgery predominately takes place in a dedicated plastic surgery theatre. Further outpatient and day surgery work is carried out at the George Elliot Hospital, Nuneaton, and South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon. There is a dedicated plastic surgery secretary at these peripheral sites. The candidate will be required to drive between sites including UHCW, South Warwickshire Hospitals and Rugby St Cross. The successful candidate will be appointed on the new consultant contract which will consist of up to 10 Programmed Activities (PA’s). This will consist of up to 8.35 PA’s for direct clinical care and 2.5 PA’s for supporting professional activities to enable the post holder to comply with the requirements for revalidation and CPD with further SPA activity negotiable pending taking on roles within the department after the initial six months in post. The DCC commitment will consist of clinical sessions as outlined above. The trauma on-call commitment is 0.75 PA per week and carries a supplement of 5% for on-call. Where duties require travel between two sites, travel expenses will be reimbursed. There will be time built into the job plan where travel between sites is required, however it is expected this will be minimised wherever possible. For those consultants wishing to undertake private practice; the Trust does not require them to do an extra Programmed Activity but will require it to be declared as part of the annual job planning process. The Trust has the required arrangements in place to ensure that all surgeons have an annual appraisal with a trained appraiser and supports surgeons going through the revalidation process.
