The Stores Person / Driver (SPD) will carry out such stores/driving duties as directed by the Head of Purchasing & Contracts Responsible for the accurate picking of orders for Locations/HUBs & department collecting, sorting of mail, packages and stores for all designated locations, including drugs and medicines. When appropriate using handheld scanning devices, keeping the devices safe and always charged. Duties will be divided between the Central Distribution Stores and on the road, deliveries as required by the Trust. Responsible for the receipt / storage / issue of all stores into the Central Distribution Centre (including entering onto appropriate databases and the correct use of a hand-held scanner or computer system). Within the scope of the persons training, duties will include assisting any member of staff that requires assistance, using the stock control systems and others to ensure the smooth operation of the Trust, both within main stores and at any other location. Responsible for the collection and delivery of stores, equipment, drugs, mail from designated locations throughout the Trusts area. Responsible for the safe collection and delivery of Trust assets and movement around the Trust. Responsible for the safe collection and delivery of items of uniform. This may be to both an internal customer of the Trust or external customer. You are required to maintain your professional qualification in relation to handling medicines using an approved supplier (e.g. Buttercups Certificate in medicines management for Ambulance Services or higher) Responsible for identifying items needed to run a station store so that an effective accident and emergency service can be maintained to a recognised and approved list. Responsible for the safe transportation and/or storage of furniture, office equipment, desks, filing cabinets, chairs, fridges, cookers, etc. Responsible for the driver maintenance of vehicle, i.e. check of lubricants, coolants, lights, indicators, brakes, windscreen wipers / washers, horn, tyres, refuelling, etc. Reporting any faults as necessary. Responsible for the maintenance of the interior and exterior of the vehicle in a clean condition, ensuring the serviceability of vehicle equipment. Required to maintain a valid driving licence with less than 6 points. Required to undertake manual handing training annually using appropriate equipment for which you have been trained. Required to undertake manual handling tasks manually or using appropriate equipment i.e. vehicle manual lifting aids, sack trucks, fork lift truck, etc. you are required to maintain an appropriate forklift driving licence. Required to adhere to a pre-arranged route programme and utilise the most cost effective and economical routes to provide a cost-effective service across the Trust area. Responsible for the security of the vehicle and or stores and its contents at all times. Required to undertake any training as deemed necessary for the fulfilment of the duties of this post. Work in accordance with all Trust policies and procedures, necessary to ensure that the service complies with the requirements of the Quality Management Systems, Health & Safety at Work Policy and Procedures within the Code of Practice and GDPR. Willing to work flexibly, providing cover during periods of leave / sickness, with the ability to respond to urgent requests for out of hours needs of the service. Responsible for delivery and collection of drugs / fluids and maintaining a stock control within the Trusts dispensary, this include appropriately handling and moving of all drugs / fluids and medications including Controlled Drugs in line with approved training package supplied by an external provider. Required to communicate with clinical staff regarding sensitive information surround the movement and transport of stock. Responsible for engaging and conversing with suppliers and delivery agents about shortages, stock orders and requests for additional information. Responsible for contacting suppliers and placing orders both on the Trusts recognised systems and the suppliers web page, this will include ensuring that any late or missing items of any stock / none stock are ordered and delivered in a timely manner as agreed by the Trust. The employee will also be responsible for informing a line manager the earliest opportunity of any discrepancy or none delivery and will be required to provide information about what actions have been taken to rectify the issue. Responsible for engaging with internal customers about the necessity for specific items and will be involved in pacifying these situations. Required to place internal stock orders and manage high risk stock in local stock rooms. Required to display diplomacy and tact to negotiate with external customers about stick ordering and rotation. Will practice effective time management and organisational skills to make accurate judgments relating to traffic and delivery routes. The employee will be required to use both electronic and manual maps to assist with this. Required to use external equipment that requires an external certificate and licence, including fork lift driving qualification with reach Required to undertake training to assist with the use of lifting aids, stock control software and PDAs. Responsible for the safe and effective transportation of patient records and high value equipment. Responsible for assisting in the training of new staff both at stations and in the department, surrounding the placement of stock orders and the correct completion of paperwork. Required to maintain personal qualifications and training records and will be required to complete all relevant workbooks. Responsible for completing driver checks and conducting minor maintenance on vehicles, whilst recording the evidence for this. Additionally, records must also be kept relating to the forklift truck and controlled drugs. Required to conduct audits of equipment, stores and stocks, controller and POMS drugs and other medical equipment essential for delivering patient care. Required to use personal initiative when not under direct supervision and will be required to interpret trust police and procedures to ensure that the trust operates safely and effectively Required to manually and repetitively lift and carry items which requires mental effort. Occasionally, it will be required to lift and manage large and heavy items to ensure that the operational requirements of the Trust are maintained. Responsible for ensuring personal safety and the safety of others by being able to concentrate for long periods of time using computers, delicate equipment, drugs and machinery. This includes the use of forklift trucks and day to day driving activity. Required to operate VDU equipment and carry pungent chemicals. Willing to work in vehicles with minimal control over internal cab temperature and willing to work in environments with fluctuating temperatures. Responsible for analysing and interpreting stock control data in order to decide on the relevant course of action, to ensure continue appropriate stock of resources. Required to act autonomously when deciding on the appropriate stock supplier, whilst taking into account a number of conflicting priorities
