Job summary We have a vacancy within our clinical team and so are seeking to recruit a health care assistant to join us at North House Surgery. You will be responsible for providing support to the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of excellent patient care. Main duties of the job The following are the core responsibilities of the health care assistant. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels: Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes. Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately. Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly. Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required. Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics. Carry out BMI checks as directed. Act as a chaperone as required. Undertake venepuncture. Administer flu, covid, shingles and B12 injections. When trained, carry out ear irrigation under the supervison of the practice nurse. Carry out ECGs as requested. Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation. Provide support during minor operations as required. Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session. Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance. Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy. Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate. About us Our current clinical team consists of 7 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 2 ANPs and 3 GP Registrars. Our surgery is housed in purpose-built accommodation located in the semi-rural town of Crook, where we look after 13500 patients. We also serve the surrounding villages of Howden-le-Wear and Witton-le-Wear. North House is a well-established training practice for both GP Registrars and Medical Students. We have a strong focus on education and we run regular in-house teaching sessions. We have a fantastic nursing team including 4 Practice Nurses, 4 Health Care Assistants, 1 Nursing Associates and a Phlebotomist. North House is also well supported by Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Social Prescribers, Wellbeing Coach and First Contact Physiotherapists. Our CQC inspection was very positive with us gaining an overall score of Good. The Practice is actively involved in our local PCN and Federation. Our Clinicians are supported by an excellent administrative team led by our experienced Practice Manager. They work hard to ensure the Practice runs smoothly.
