Description:
To provide comprehensive litigation administrative support to fee earners in progressing cases efficiently and accurately while ensuring compliance with internal and client service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs). The role will involve both administrative and case management responsibilities within a busy and varied employment law practice. This role will suit someone as an entry-level role into the legal profession, and who aspires to progress into a fee-earning legal role in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the management and progression of legal cases, ensuring deadlines are met and cases are proactively handled through to conclusion.
2. Support fee earners in meeting client and commercial requirements, including adherence to SLAs, KPIs, and financial targets.
3. Manage case files, including opening new matters, carrying out conflict checks, and setting up cases in the case management system.
4. Diarise key dates, including court and tribunal directions, and ensure timely compliance.
5. Handle general document management, including scanning, organising, and maintaining paper and digital files.
6. Draft and send out routine case correspondence and deal with the Employment Tribunal portal system for a number of fee earners.
7. Check availability and coordinate witness and counsel arrangements, including booking counsel and preparing instructions.
8. Prepare, index, and serve tribunal bundles.
9. Submit payment requests and chase settlement cheques and orders as required.
10. Perform other administrative duties as needed.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise:
Essential Skills & Experience:
1. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a changing workload.
2. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
3. Confident communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to build rapport and inspire confidence in clients and colleagues.
4. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
5. Capable of making decisions within own areas of responsibility and working independently with minimal supervision.
6. Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Word and Excel, with experience using case management and finance systems preferred.
7. A co-operative team player with a positive and motivated approach to work.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
1. A law degree or related legal qualification.
2. Previous experience of working with case management systems (e.g. Visual Files).
