Danny Sullivan are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join one of our clients and provide advice and control all commercial and financial aspects of projects and contracts. The role includes supporting the Project Manager in ensuring projects are safely delivered on time, within budget, and with the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will assist the Quantity Surveyor in providing commercial expertise to maximize returns, following robust procedures to support the Commercial Manager and Project Managers.
Key Responsibilities
Produce and send enquiries to subcontractors, inviting them to tender and engage with the supply chain.
Receive and analyse quotations, liaising with Contracts Managers and Site Agents regarding pricing, proven history, and availability.
Notify successful and unsuccessful subcontractors in writing in a timely manner.
Produce and process formal subcontract documents, certifying interim/final payments and final subcontract accounts.
Produce bill of quantities/activity schedules for payment purposes.
Produce cash flow forecasts for internal and client purposes.
Monitor and control income and expenditure on contracts (e.g., interim/final applications for payment, final accounts, payments for late monies), liaising with engineers, clients, and other relevant people.
Produce monthly reports for the Commercial Manager (e.g., cost and value comparisons, turnover forecasts) ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Contribute to and attend financial and progress meetings with client engineers and subcontractors as required.
Provide advice and support to the site team to optimize contract resource use.
Provide data input support for the Managing Surveyor.
Provide feedback to Estimators and Contracts Managers on contract pricing, projected profit/loss, and pricing omissions.Skills and Experience
Essential
Proficiency in using a range of IT packages, including Microsoft Office and bespoke systems.
Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders effectively.
Self-motivated and proactive approach to tasks and responsibilities.
Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the construction process.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to apply them internally, externally, and with the supply chain.
Positive attitude and ability to integrate and work collaboratively within a construction team.
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Eagerness to pursue personal development needs and maintain up-to-date knowledge
Degree-qualified or equivalent, with appropriate experience and knowledge.
Possession of a CSCS card
