My client are delivering the Visual Impact Provision project in Eryri National Park which aims to reduce the visual impact of National Grid’s overhead line across the Dwyryd Estuary from Minffordd to Llandecwyn.
The Visual Impact Provision project in Eryri National Park aims to reduce the visual impact of National Grid’s overhead line across the Dwyryd Estuary from Minffordd to Llandecwyn.
Stakeholders have agreed that the best way to achieve this is to remove a section of this overhead line and replace it with electricity cables buried in a tunnel underground. It represents a major opportunity to conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and environmental heritage of this precious landscape of Eryri.
Purpose of the Role
1. To carry out quality planning and produce a framework that the project can use to provide a quality product.
2. To ensure that quality and management system requirements are delivered.
3. To ensure that the works are as specified and that the required testing and commissioning has taken place.
4. To provide Governance support to site team as required e.g. GDPR, Data Protection and other compliance issues as required.
5. To manage the Assurance process to ensure that the project works can be properly certified as correct to the client.
6. To manage and drive Improvement activities to assist the project in meeting its goals.
7. To provide support and advice on Quality within the Context of the project including best practice and lessons learnt activity.
8. To manage the document control function (if required)
Role Accountabilities
9. Mentor Quality Engineers and other subordinate staff and assist in their development.
10. (Where Required) Lead the document control function and ensure all documentation and records are properly controlled.
11. (Where required) Act as the local representative for GDPR and Data Protection matters
12. Develop project specific management system plans and procedures where required.
13. Carry out quality planning activities including developing a Quality Plan and carrying out an assessment of Quality Risks
14. Develop and maintain a team to carry out appropriate quality management activities.
15. Be responsible for all project assurance matters including the certification of each element of the works.
16. Take accountability for the quality measurement devices, ensuring that they are fit for purpose. Be able to take required action in the event of measurements from a device becoming uncertain.
17. Maintain a Log of all non-conformities and ensure that these are progressed to closure in a timely basis.
18. Manage the Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) process and track each Non-Conformity (Whether Defect, NCR, Snag or Outstanding works to ensure that they are satisfactorily completed by the site team(s)
19. Assist in the production of Operation and Maintenance Manuals and Health and Safety File for handover to the client.
20. Manage the production of “Red-line” drawings from the site team and, if necessary, manage the process to turn them into “As built” status.
21. Manage the inspection and test plan (ITP) submittal and approval process including tracking the progress to completion of each ITP.
22. Prepare and maintain a project audit and surveillance plan
23. Develop a project specific assurance regime in line with company requirements
24. Lead regular quality meetings with the purpose of improving quality management on the project.
25. Produce and agree a project quality improvement plan to address major quality risks and lessons learnt and then support the project manager in implementing this plan.
26. Arrange and facilitate regular “lessons learnt” forums and ensure that the results are recorded and disseminated to the project team and wider stakeholders
27. Collect and trend relevant quality data, analyse and report this with a view to making improvements and reducing repeat mistakes

Required Project knowledge
30. Comprehensive understanding of project administration procedures.
31. Comprehensive understanding of document control processes and procedures including knowledge of ISO
32. Computer literate (Particularly Excel and Word)
33. Familiarity with using EDMS systems
34. Basic understanding of Integrated Management System (IMS)
35. Basic understanding of the project delivery objectives
36. Familiarity with using EDMS systems (Themis/Projectwise/4Projects/A-Site e.t.c)
37. Understanding of the purpose and importance of accurate document control in a commercial and assurance context
