Job Summary
Kiwa Fire Safety Compliance (KFS) have an exciting opening for Graduate Fire Safety Engineers to join our Product Evaluation (PE) team from September 2025, working as part of a specialised engineering consultancy in a supportive and diverse team of established fire engineers in our Aylesbury office. As a Graduate Fire Safety Engineer, you will be an integral part of the team. Working with our experienced engineers, you will receive direction and mentoring to quickly gain knowledge and experience in many aspects of passive fire protection.
About the role
This entry-level fire engineering role will be a client-facing position and will provide the opportunity for you to work on a wide variety of construction elements. A key part of this role will be working with a range of passive fire protection products to aid in the extension of scope based upon fire resistance test data (either through the use of existing test data or assisting clients in the development of full-scale fire resistance testing programmes) and available industry guidance to provide a scope of approval for passive fire protection products. This role will also include assisting clients with the design and approval of on-site issues by developing robust solutions for bespoke scenarios and attending on-site inspections where required.

* You will be responsible for supporting the team with the delivery of Field of Application Reports, Technical Assessment Reports, Technical Notes, fire resistance test data reviews, letters, drawing mark-ups/reviews, and where appropriate you will use engineering principles, available industry guidance documents and the necessary supporting calculations (where applicable).
* You will, under the supervision of others, review fire resistance test data for passive fire protection products, develop technical reports for various construction elements, and where applicable, review building designs and drawings to assist in the development of solutions for clients.
* You will have a client-facing role, which will include direct correspondence (emails, telephone calls, meeting attendance) with clients, attendance at fire resisting test laboratories, design team meetings and liaison with Statutory Authorities under the supervision of senior engineers.
* You will develop your knowledge of fire resistance testing and Building Regulations to support projects in a variety of sectors.
* You will be able to present your work in an appropriate and coherent format.
* You will be able to deliver work in accordance with agreed time scales and budgets under supervision.
* In addition to the support and mentoring provided by the company, you will take ownership of your own personal development, ensuring continuous professional development (CPD) by learning new skills, knowledge and experience to enhance professional abilities and maintain an effective performance as a professional fire engineer. As a guide, you would be expected to undertake at least 35 hours of CPD per year, including both a mix of formal and informal activities which the company will support.
* You will assist the sales and estimating team in the bidding process of future work and developing/strengthening networking channels.
Do you have what it takes?
* Master’s or bachelor’s degree with a prediction of 2:1 or above in Fire Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineer, Building Services Engineering etc. Courses must be accredited by one or more professional engineering institution (such as the Institution of Fire Engineers etc.) to meet, or partially meet the education criteria for Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) through the Engineering Council.
* Desire to pursue a career in Fire Engineering and willingness to become professionally qualified such as a Chartered Engineer through the Institution of Fire Engineers (or other suitable professional engineering institution).
* Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team on multiple projects and collaborate with colleagues, design team members, clients, and other key stakeholders.
* Ability to work under pressure and assist the team reach targets.
* Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and well-developed interpersonal skills.
* Excellent numerical skills and aptitude for problem solving.
* Trusted to deal with confidential information.
* Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
* Willingness to travel as and when required.
* Full UK driving licence.
