About The Role
Job Title: Support Worker
Job Location: Rangeworthy, Frampton Cotterell & Winterbourne
Salary: Between £24,960 - £26,000 based on 40 hours per week, plus potential sleep-in allowance
Contract Type: Permanent
Phoenix Learning & Care has been selected by South Gloucestershire Council to collaborate in opening and managing three new children’s homes over the next year. These homes will form a supportive network, creating a village-like environment for the staff and children. They will provide much-needed support for children unable to live with their families, helping to give them the best possible start in life. By partnering with South Gloucestershire Council, the children will benefit from integrated access to CAMHS, education, and social care, ensuring a truly collaborative, child-centred approach. The first home is set to open in January, with the others to follow soon after.
We need you to join our team as a Support Worker to give the children of South Gloucestershire somewhere they can feel safe, supported, and call home.
Every child should have the opportunity to go for a day out at Bristol Zoo or embark on epic adventures. We ensure the children supported by us get to experience as many great things as possible – but we need your help.
Our children have social and emotional needs related to Autism, ADHD, or Trauma. They need good role models to help them flourish. Your support will make a positive impact as the children grow.
This role is working in one of our small 3-bedroom homes based in Rangeworthy, Frampton Cotterell, or Winterbourne. You’ll really get to know the team and the children. The children need support 24 hours a day, meaning you’ll be able to work your full week in 2-3 days, which is only 10 shifts per month!
A day in the life of a Support Worker will involve:
* Supporting children to have the best quality of life possible through various activities.
* Ensuring our children are kept safe and their plans are suitable for their needs, while monitoring their development and keeping records up to date.
To be a successful Support Worker, you’ll need:
* Patience, compassion, and resilience.
* Great communication skills – both verbal and written.
* A driving licence – to transport the children.
* Flexibility – you’ll need to be able to sleep at the home during your shifts.
* If you don’t already hold a qualification in residential childcare, we will pay for this.
In return for your time, you’ll get:
* Holidays: 28 days annual leave, plus an extra day off for your birthday after your first year.
* Pension scheme: 5% from you and 3% from us.
* Learning & Development Opportunities: Comprehensive learning opportunities.
* Discounts: Access to discounts through the Blue Light Card.
* Wellbeing Support: Access to mental health and wellbeing support.
* Cycle2Work: Buy a bicycle at a discounted rate.
* DBS: We will cover the cost of an enhanced DBS check.
* Sleep-in Allowance: Potential to earn up to an additional £6,183 per year.
* After 12 months service: Eligibility for our Medicash scheme and life assurance.
In line with safer recruitment guidelines, we will run an online check on the successful candidate.
At Phoenix Learning and Care, we pride ourselves on our diverse workforce and ensuring an inclusive environment for all our team members.
