Metadata Executive (six-month fixed-term contract starting in March) Do you have a flair for consumer language and great attention to detail? As Metadata Executive, you will play a crucial role in ensuring high-quality book metadata to increase online discoverability and boost sales. Your team: Join an innovative team led by the Head of Video & Metadata. We are a small but pivotal team, dedicated to the continuous improvement of our metadata processes to support sales and editorial teams. You'll work alongside the wider Digital team and be a key liaison with the Editorial Assistants. Your role: You will play a crucial role in achieving our objective of metadata excellence, helping the team provide metadata support across all imprints – making recommendations and actioning changes. Your work will ensure comprehensive metadata coverage for our frontlist titles, and enhance our ongoing backlist projects. Your consumer knowledge, attention to detail and skilled use of consumer-focused copy writing will help make sure our books are positioned as effectively as possible online, and aid conversion to purchase. This is a six-month fixed-term contract that will start in March. Your key responsibilities: Aid the Senior Metadata Manager in checking and delivering improvements on the frontlist for 100% title coverage Be responsible for metadata tasks such as editing book descriptions, author biographies, age ranges, keywords, and BISAC and Thema codes on several editorial lists Analyse and update author backlists for metadata optimization Optimize titles ready for promotion to make the most of monthly book sales Provide administrative support to the Senior Metadata Manager and the Head of Video & Metadata. Essential experience, abilities and knowledge you’ll need to succeed: Proficient understanding of and prior experience with book metadata, including description writing, keyword creation, BISAC & Thema category codes High level of accuracy and attention to detail Skilled use of written language and the ability to write and edit copy with an understanding of the online consumer Good understanding of Excel and Google Sheets Self-starter who is at ease working individually and in small project teams Excellent organizational and administrative skills Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, editorial and others. Desirable skills we’d love you to have: Experience in editing or proofreading Familiarity with the Biblio product-management system, or equivalent Passion for books and experience in the book industry.
