What you’ll be doing
At Direct Line Group (DLG) we’re transforming how we manage risk and controls. As part of this, we’ve created a Chief Controls Office (CCO) within the first line of defence, dedicated to strengthening risk management, embedding a robust control environment and fostering a strong risk-aware culture across the business.
We’re looking for a Senior Risk Manager to play a key role in partnering with the Group Chief Financial Office and Finance Leadership Team. If you have a background in finance risk management and/or financial control frameworks (e.g. SOX) within Financial Services, this is an opportunity to drive meaningful change in a fast-moving environment.
As a trusted risk and controls specialist in our first-line Finance CCO team, you’ll be responsible for:
Key Accountabilities
* Embedding a strong risk culture: ensuring Finance understands and takes ownership for its risks and control environment.
* Supporting risk management and the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process for Finance: ensuring risks are properly identified, assessed and managed.
* Improving control documentation and evidencing: ensuring Finance has a clear, well documented and auditable control environment.
* Supporting control remediation activities: ensuring control deficiencies are addressed with the right actions, taken at the right time, to strengthen the control environment.
* Acting as a trusted risk advisor: supporting decision making and enhancing risk-oversight within the Finance function.
* Enhancing risk reporting: leveraging Workiva and other MI to provide clear, actionable insights.
* Collaborating across teams: working closely with the Central Control Testing & Assurance Teams, as well as the Central Policy, Framework and Reporting Team within the Chief Controls Office.
What you’ll need
Technical
* Extensive risk and controls experience within a highly regulated environment (ideally insurance).
* Technical knowledge of financial control frameworks and assurance processes.
* A track record of embedding control frameworks or delivering control enhancements in Finance or Actuarial environments.
* Strong stakeholder management skills – ability to influence, collaborate and drive action at senior levels.
* Excellent communication skills – able to translate complex risk topics for a range of audiences.
