Build Maintain Recruit Limited is looking for a Structural Engineer to join an engineering team in Exeter. This position is perfect for an experienced structural engineer eager to further develop their skills and work towards Chartered status in a role that balances technical expertise and project management.
Role Overview:
In this role, the structural engineer will bring technical insight and leadership across a variety of projects. These include new builds, school extensions, residential constructions, historical building repairs, and public sector initiatives. Your day-to-day tasks will involve:
Overseeing work programmes and projects within defined budgets and timeframes.
Managing project-related maintenance expenses and building strong client relationships.
Preparing estimates, drafting specifications, and supervising contractors.
Producing designs, specifications, drawings, and risk assessments for improvement, refurbishment, and new construction projects.
Overseeing project documentation and tenders, ensuring all work is completed to high standards.
Conducting structural surveys, creating dilapidation schedules, and responding to urgent issues like dangerous building conditions or ground collapses.
Offering construction and refurbishment advice to clients and promoting fee-paying surveying services.
Occasional travel to additional office locations may be required. Qualifications and Skills Required:
The successful candidate will have a solid combination of technical training and practical experience:
Professional membership with the Institute of Structural Engineers, along with a commitment to or progress toward Chartered status.
Proven experience in structural engineering or a related discipline.
Excellent communication skills for building and maintaining strong client relationships.
Familiarity with construction regulations and health and safety standards, particularly concerning asbestos.
A valid site card or a willingness to obtain one quickly. Benefits:
