We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Mechanical Engineer to lead the development of our range of sustainable domestic hydroelectric turbines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing mechanical and electromechanical systems from concept to production. Responsibilities include engineering mass-produced turbines and bespoke installation structures, collaborating with electronic control system engineers on looms, wiring, and mechanical-electrical interfaces, and leading the development process with good industry practices. The role also involves working with suppliers to ensure parts meet quality and cost standards, as well as participating in hands-on installation, testing, and commissioning of turbines in the field. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative, sustainable energy solutions, to play a key role in bringing them to market and to shape and help build the company.
Create engineering drawings, conduct stress analysis, and develop test requirements for turbines and bespoke structures.
Collaborate with electronics engineers to specify and integrate electrical and control systems.
Work with suppliers to ensure parts meet quality standards at the right cost.
Participate in hands-on installation, testing, and commissioning of turbines in the field.
Identify opportunities for design and process improvements to enhance performance and reduce costs.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field).
~5 Years experience in a relevant engineering role
~ Strong knowledge of stress analysis, including FEA.
~ Experience working with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure quality standards.
~ Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks or similar).
~ Hands-on approach – willingness to be involved in field installation, testing, and commissioning.
Collaboration skills – ability to work closely with electronic control system engineers and suppliers.
