About us We're an innovative law firm that specialises in media, technology and intellectual property. We advise clients on the financing, exploitation and protection of their creative and commercial assets. Our mission is to help clients to realise the value of their ideas in a digital age. We have an enviable client base, including Hollywood studios, major TV production and streaming services, games businesses, music studios and blue-chip technology and communication firms, alongside entrepreneurs, early-stage ventures and much more. Although a relatively small law firm (of around 250 people), we have an exceptional market reputation and an impressive list of awards under our belt. For a legal marketing professional, it’s a really great place to work. The BD, marketing and communications function at Wiggin is a well-regarded and trusted team of five people, comprising: Head of, Manager, Senior Exec, Exec and Assistant. Currently two members of the team are based in London and three are based in Cheltenham, with all of them travelling occasionally between the two locations. It’s a small but perfectly formed team, with a ‘can-do’ attitude and ‘roll up your sleeves’ approach. The culture of the team is also supportive and collaborative. They enjoy a good relationship with the lawyers they support, in addition to the other business management functions, with whom they also work on a regular basis. From an external perspective, the team is supported by a creative agency on certain web, design and editorial projects. They also work with an outsourced data quality service, who regularly review and update the data in our CRM system. About the role As a Business Development and Marketing Manager you will work with specific practice areas, in addition to working on firm-wide initiatives where relevant. Strengthening our BD capabilities and activities is a key focus across the firm. You will be encouraged and supported to get involved and build relationships with our lawyers, bringing your specialist skills and knowledge and your commerciality to make a real difference to the growth and development of the firm. Your responsibilities will include: Events – efficient end-to-end event management for clients and prospects, ensuring return on investment and obtaining post-event feedback. Marketing collateral and pitches - producing new materials for clients and prospects and ensuring existing materials are kept up to date. As a specialist firm we are less regularly involved in substantial/formal Invitations to Tender than large international firms, but they do arise from time to time. Thought leadership and legal update bulletins - working in conjunction with the lawyers, and external agency where relevant, on the production and dissemination of regular legal update bulletins, blog posts, and thought leadership campaigns. Website and social media – collaborating with members of the marketing team and lawyers as necessary to generate content for the website, ensuring social media is updated and posts are created in a way which seeks to maximise audience engagement. Awards and legal directory submissions - overseeing preparation and drafting of legal directories (Chambers & Legal 500) and awards submissions, making recommendations where possible in relation to messaging, and clear and concise copy. Research - carrying out research into specific clients, targets, and industry sectors as required. Analysis and reporting – creating and/or analysing reports relating to email marketing campaigns, social media and website, event attendance, InterAction use etc. CRM system – advocating best practice use of the firm's CRM system (InterAction) and working with the team to extract data from InterAction where relevant for BD and/or marcomms initiatives. Internal comms - contributing content to the firm’s intranet, weekly staff newsletter and quarterly staff briefing, considering how best to engage internal audiences. Seeking opportunities to raise the internal profile of the practice groups and of the BD & marketing team. PR and press releases - working with the lawyers on opportunities for press coverage, including, where appropriate, working alongside an external agency on substantial PR activities. Best practice - contributing to the development of team best practice by sharing information or developing specific tools, reports etc. General - involvement in other marketing, BD and internal/external comms tasks and projects as required, including providing support in relation to the firm's key clients and prospects. About you If you’re an experienced marketeer/BD professional with strong interpersonal and influencing skills and a legal or professional services background, we’d love to hear from you We’d encourage you to apply if you’re already a manager, but also if you’re seeking your first manager role, providing you have several years’ experience working at Senior Exec level (or similar) and feel ready to take the next step in your career. Just as important as your experience, is the ability to match the team’s ‘can-do’ ethos and forge excellent relationships with your key stakeholders – who will be hugely welcoming but who do have high expectations. If you have expertise in certain areas, there may be an opportunity to shape the role to align with your strengths. Knowledge gained in the media and technology sectors, and/or intellectual property would be advantageous, but is not essential. Our Culture Our culture is unique among law firms – both in what we expect from our people and the way we create value in the industries we serve. We empower our people, expect commitment and excellence, and celebrate when we achieve it. Our values are at the heart of everything that we do and define Wiggin as a workplace: being visionary, authentic, unified, responsible and excellent across-the-board. There isn’t a typical Wiggin person. We aim to build teams that are diverse in thought, perspective and experience to provide a more rounded service to our internal and external clients. We operate a discretionary hybrid working model allowing 2 days per week working from home. We offer an attractive remuneration package including 25 days holiday (plus birthdays off), private medical insurance, permanent health insurance and more from your first day of employment.
