What will you be doing? We have openings in the UK Global IRM Finance team for a Senior Cost Controller (Senior Project Accountant) and a Cost Controller (Project Accountant) to join us in our Westhill, Aberdeen office. These will be full-time, staff roles and both will be fantastic opportunities to develop your accounting skills and progress your career long term, within a dynamic business. You will have responsibility for the proactive evaluation and determination of a projects current and projected financial status through the analysis, revision and reporting of cost and revenue is the key to ensuring predictable performance. The Cost control function encompasses the people, expertise, processes and systems to perform cost management. As a key member of the cost control and project team the position will be responsible for all aspects of the cost control and project accounting of assigned projects providing timely and value-added support to the project manager and the wider team. Commitment, enthusiasm and a self-checking approach to work are key qualities of a cost controller. Responsibilities Include (but Are Not Limited To) Actual cost of work performed analysis, forecasting and commitment tracking of man hours, procurement, fabrication and vessel operations. Ensure accounting systems accurately reflects project costs and revenues to date, including any accruals or prepayments. Assist the project managers in the preparation of monthly project and financial forecasts. Assist the project manager in the preparation of a monthly financial sensitivity analysis. Analyse variances from as-bid financials by building a detailed and informative monthly analysis of variances from prior forecast. Prepare month end project reports and review with project manager. Attend project / client meetings and provide relevant cost and financial input as required. Prepare and oversee the preparation and issuance of project invoices and maintain focus on the collection of receivables and DSO (days sales outstanding) KPI. Prepare project cash flows in support of the group's treasury requirements for cash flow forecasting. This will include short term and long-term cash forecasting. Develop effective interfaces with the project team and support functions and contribute to improvement programs; build/enhance relationships with project managers to ensure communication and flow of information is effective; work with project managers to develop and improve reporting tools/systems and make recommendations to improve/enhance existing processes. Educated to degree level in a relevant Business or Finance subject or qualified by previous experience in a similar role. Previous experience in a Project Accounting or Cost Control role. A recognised accounting body qualification is beneficial, although not essential for this role, but a good level of awareness around relevant accounting standards is required. Proficient IT knowledge including SAP and advanced Excel skills. Good communication, planning and leadership skills, as well as a desire for continued growth and development.
