The Finance Analyst Team is a small team within the Finance Service. This role will work across all Council Departments, providing financial advice and supporting the development of financial models and ad hoc analysis. The Role The role is varied and interesting, and you will have the opportunity to be involved in variety of activities from budget deep dives to demand management and recovery and savings plans, to playing an integral role on formulation of the Councils Medium-Term Financial Plan and Budget setting process. We are looking for people who are professional, enthusiastic and motivated who can: Provide financial management, technical and business planning advice, training and support within their Services. Provide advice and present financial information and reports to senior managers and boards. Support the business reporting managers on integrated financial and performance reporting for the organisation. Ensure the service’s financial management and internal control arrangements are effective and developing plans to address weaknesses. Work with the strategic finance managers, business reporting managers, financial analysts, internal audit and other colleagues in the Council as required to establish comprehensive support arrangements to meet client and corporate needs in all areas. Support the service in developing plans to underpin the delivery of the Medium-Term Financial Plan. Support the review of major projects and key decisions and verify the effectiveness of management arrangements, engaging as required to strengthen financial management and/or add value. Line management of finance professionals within the team. Working Pattern The role is full-time, working a standard 37 hour week Monday - Friday, however we will consider flexible working patterns and/ or part-time. What You’ll Need To Succeed Successful candidates will be fully qualified (CCAB or equivalent). You will be able demonstrate a good understanding of medium-term financial planning and forecasting, and the ability to provide financial advice relating to financial standards, investment options appraisals and financial modelling. Excellent Communication skills are essential, with the proven ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively. You should be comfortable explaining complex financial information in an easy-to-understand manner to non-financial managers as well as working closely with a wide range of stakeholders and external partners. Having previous experience within a local government setting is highly desirable and will make your application stand out, but it is not essential.
