Assistant Accountant - Growing Maritime Technology Business

The Opportunity:
We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our global finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some commercial experience looking to develop their career in a dynamic, international environment. You will support financial reporting, reconciliations, and key finance operations while gaining exposure to a broad range of accounting tasks. This will provide a candidate the opportunity to grow in a global finance team, gaining exposure to international accounting practices.
Responsibilities
* Assisting with the purchase ledger, processing invoices, bi-weekly payment runs. Being the point of call for all suppliers.
* Support balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy in financial records.
* Reconciling several bank accounts on a weekly basis.
* Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
* Help prepare VAT returns and tax filings across different jurisdictions.
* Contribute to the annual audit process, liaising with auditors and gathering necessary documentation.
* Support the finance team in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
* Work closely with global stakeholders to ensure compliance with internal financial controls.
* Assist in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency within the finance function.
Requirements
* Part-qualified or currently studying towards AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
* Some commercial finance experience, ideally within a fast-paced or global environment.
* Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
* Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (experience with SAP is a plus but not essential).
* Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with the ability to work across different time zones.
Education:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting & Finance or similar.
