Applications are invited for a part time Consultant in Restorative Dentistry, from individuals with a commitment to high quality patient care as well as excellence in postgraduate education/training, to start at the earliest opportunity. This is a substantive post, split between the Restorative Division at the Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals, part of the University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (0.25 WTE) as well Northwick Park Hospital (0.3 WTE), part of London North West University Healthcare Trust.
The candidate should have considerable experience in managing complex (including multidisciplinary) restorative challenges, along with HNC rehabilitation. Successful applicants will join well established teams in providing a wide range of restorative services as well as postgraduate teaching/ training. Applicants will be expected to have excellent communication skills as well as proficiency in both leadership and teamworking. Candidates should be on/ eligible for the Specialist Register in Restorative Dentistry.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will take up the appointment at the earliest opportunity.

Main duties of the job
University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a substantive Consultant in Restorative Dentistry. The post holder will have a commitment to high quality patient care, innovative service models, delivery of performance targets, and excellence in education/training.
The post-holder will be expected to show drive and initiative towards patient care putting the patient first in line with the Trust core values. They will be expected to have a high level of knowledge and expertise in the field of Restorative Dentistry and its mono specialties and be able to demonstrate a high-quality approach to patient management.
They post holder is required to provide all aspects of Prosthodontic treatment (fixed, removable and implant supported), for multidisciplinary cases. Supervision/ teaching of trainees is also expected within the role. Proficiency in restorative management for head and neck cancer cases is also a prerequisite. The position at Northwick Park hospital also requires attendance at the HNC MDT meetings.
Participation in issues such as clinical effectiveness relating to patient management is essential as well as sharing in the administrative tasks in the Department and Division. They will be expected to work closely with the highly skilled, well established teams based at both sites in terms of both within the division, inter departmentally and as part of wider multi-disciplinary teams and networks.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
* Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC)
* On the GDC's Specialist Register for Restorative Dentistry and/ or Successful completion of an SAC approved training programme in Restorative Dentistry
* Within 6 months of completion of Specialist training programme at date of interview
* NB: Non UK trained doctors must be on the GDC register and Specialist Register in Restorative Dentistry by date of interview.
* BDS or equivalent
* MSc or equivalent
* Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, or equivalent
* Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination in Restorative Dentistry or equivalent.
* M Clin Dent or Membership in Endodontics/ Periodontics/ Prosthodontics
Clinical Experience
* Considerable experience in the management of patients with multidisciplinary treatment needs (incl HNC), within restorative dentistry (both fixed and removable) and via other disciplines in dentistry.
* Proficient and competent in undertaking a range of clinical procedures both non-surgical and surgical in the field of Restorative Dentistry, including periodontics and endodontics.
* Experienced in attending MDTs for HNC and pre radiotherapy assessments and demonstrates collaborative decision making.
* Understand the importance of multidisciplinary interface of patients treatment needs with other aspects of Dentistry
* Significant experience of working with a variety multidisciplinary teams eg hypodontia
* Able to undertake independent decision making and leading teams.
* Attendance at HNC surgery with view to proving necessary interim treatment/ surgical prostheses.
* Experience in undertaking complex implant rehabilitation for HNC patients.
Clinical Skills and Abilities
* Proficiency in both fixed (conventional and adhesive) and removable prosthodontics at advanced level/ complexity
* Proficient and competent in undertaking implant surgery and related surgical procedures including bone augmentation (GBR)
* Highly competent in undertaking rehabilitation for head and neck cancer patients
* Proficient at providing advanced surgical procedures (implant related) eg external sinus lifts and bone grafting.
* Proficient in advanced surgical procedures (non- implant related) eg soft tissue grafting, crown lengthening, apicectomy
* Familiarity and competence with digital workflows in dentistry
* Proficient in prosthodontic implant rehabilitation of high complexity/ multidisciplinary cases
Clinical Knowledge
* Knowledge of the theoretical basis of Restorative Dentistry including dental implants
* Effective application of evidence based practice in clinical management of patients
* Application and analysis including self-reflective practice on treatment outcomes
* Understanding and application of evidence base in terms of head and neck oncology patients
