An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist (Paediatrics) working within Independent Living Services.
About the job
The successful applicant will be responsible for undertaking functional assessments of need for children and young people under 18 years with a disability and agreeing outcomes with service users, families and carers. Interventions are likely to include specialist equipment provision, minor and major adaptations and assessments of moving and handling needs for informal and formal carers.
The successful applicant will focus on carrying a small complex caseload while supporting and providing supervision to fellow Occupational Therapists/Occupational Therapy Assistants in the Children’s team. The successful applicant will be supported, and line managed by the Children’s OT Team Manager.
Part of the role also includes being involved in service development and contributing to the improvement of service delivery for children and young people with disabilities across Cardiff.
What We Are Looking For From You
The successful candidate must also be able to work to strict deadlines and be extremely flexible. You must be able to work autonomously as well as being able to work as part of a team both with internal and external stakeholders.
You will have excellent communication and organisation skills, a strength-based person-centred approach to working with children and their families and the ability to problem solve and provide outcome-focused interventions.

It is essential that you have experience of working proactively with children and young people or experience working in a social care role with a strong interest in working with children and/or young people. You also hold a full valid driving licence and have use of a vehicle with business insurance.
