Reach Academy, and its predecessor school, Westfields, is a well-established school for children in Key Stage 3 (ages 11 to 14) with Social, Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are seeking to appoint an Apprentice Inclusion Worker who is dedicated to supporting our young people to reach their full potential. This is a great opportunity to gain both long-term experience and a level 3 qualification.

Duties and responsibilities:
* To be an active member of a staff team providing pastoral and behaviour support within the classroom, under the direction of the class teacher/line manager to support all pupils to make progress.
* Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
* Build positive relationships with pupils.
* Support pupils’ learning, behaviour and SEND needs.
* Promote positive pupil behaviour, maintaining high expectations for all pupils.
* Use effective strategies to support pupil behaviour including restorative practice, emotion coaching, de-escalation and positive handling (Team Teach).
* Contribute to personalised plans for pupils based on individual needs. Support the needs of individual pupils in line with their Educational Health and Care Plans to maximise progress towards their outcomes.
* Update pupil records using the Management Information System and record accurate and objective accounts.
* Supervise and support pupils during break and lunch times.
* Participate in and assist with supervision of educational visits.
* Undertake relevant CPD and training.
* Actively support and promote the academy’s responsibilities towards safeguarding, following safeguarding procedures and practices in line with the expectations of the academy.
General:

* Have a positive attitude towards working with vulnerable young people including the ability to be understanding, responsive, calm and supportive.

Skills and Attributes:
Desirable:
* Experience working with children or young people.
* Experience of working in an educational setting.
Essential:
* GCSE grade 4 or above (grade C or above) in English and Maths or the ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge.
* Willingness to undertake a Level 2 Team Teach accreditation.
* Ability to communicate effectively with pupils and staff.
* Ability to work as a team member.
* Ability to work with pupils exhibiting challenging behaviour.
* Ability to problem solve and be solution focused.
* Have a non-judgemental attitude.
* Ability to understand safeguarding procedures and issues.
Any additional factors:
* Commitment to ongoing professional training and development.
* Willingness to work outside of normal Trust hours on occasion and with due notice.
* Willingness to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check; pre-employment and annually.
* Emotional resilience in working with pupils who exhibit challenging behaviour.
