Professional Registration
Essential criteria
1. Full Registration with the United Kingdom General Medical Council (GMC) and with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC)
2. GMC Specialist Registration (or expected inclusion within 6 months)
Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
1. Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination in OMFS, or equivalent
2. Possession of a Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for CST in OMFS or within 3 months of award
3. Successful completion of an SAC-approved 5 year minimum training programme in OMFS, or within 3 months of completion
Desirable criteria
1. Current ATLS provider certification
2. ATLS trainer status
3. MFDS or equivalent
4. Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, or equivalent
5. Completion of a Head and Neck Fellowship
Clinical Experience
Essential criteria
1. Ability to offer sound clinical opinion on range of acute medical conditions
2. Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
Management and Administration Experience
Essential criteria
1. Ability to manage and lead medical/surgical teams
2. Ability to lead on smooth and efficient running of the unit
3. Ability to organise, prioritise and manage high intensity workload
Teaching, Audit and Research
Essential criteria
1. Ability to appraise scientific literature critically
Desirable criteria
1. Research relevant to OMFS
2. Publications in peer reviewed journals
Personal Attributes
Essential criteria
1. Ability to work flexibly in a changing health service
2. Excellent manner with patients, being sensitive to their needs and fears
3. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, GPs, Nurses and other health professionals as appropriate
4. Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional and national levels
