Trainee Apprenticeship and Widening Access Manager

We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Apprenticeship and Widening Access Manager, based at The Heart and Lung Research Institute at Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge.

You will have responsibility for apprenticeships, employability schemes, work experience, and other work opportunity programmes across the Trust. You will manage the operational activity of the provision including schools and college engagement activities, engaging and inspiring young people into careers at Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. You will co-ordinate activities with multiple professional bodies and partners to facilitate feeder routes into all areas of healthcare careers.
Main duties of the job
The skills we are looking for are attention to detail, tact, patience, the ability to liaise with colleagues throughout the Hospital and beyond, and excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional and respectful manner. You will also need to access multiple IT systems.
There will be on-the-job training and support from the Work Opportunities Team and Talent Manager. We are committed to supporting you to develop your skills and understanding of the role. The development programme will be designed in conjunction with the successful applicant taking into account current skills and knowledge.
The ideal candidate will have a strong teamwork ethic, a sense of accountability, and the ability to work under time constraints and pressure. We will provide the necessary support to ensure your development within your role.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Knowledge of a range of learning and development and HR procedures, acquired through relevant training and experience to diploma/Certificate in Personnel Practice equivalent level.
Experience
* Experience of working in a busy clerical/office environment
* Prioritising, planning, and organising own tasks
* Excellent communication skills including telephone, email, and face-to-face
* Experience of dealing with difficult situations and confrontations
* Data entry experience and documentation
* Experience of IT packages -- Microsoft Office and Excel
* Experience of producing documents to a high standard
* Ability to allocate and monitor the work of others
* Ability to use own initiative and work autonomously
* Experience of influencing and negotiating difficult challenges
* Understanding of apprenticeship issues and practice
* Understanding of the apprenticeship levy
