Job summary
BHT Pharmacy are very excited to announce that a vacancy has opened up for the position of Medicines Efficiency Officer.
The Medicines Efficiency Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient storage and use of medicines within the hospital pharmacy and wider Trust. They work closely with the Pharmacy Procurement & Distribution Team and Medicines Optimisation Team to identify, implement, and evaluate strategies to enhance the efficient use of medicines procurement and usage.
A GPhC recognised qualification/training course following National Occupational Standards OR a willingness to work towards this is required, and will be fully funded by the Trust.
This post isbased within the Pharmacy department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Occasional travel to our other sites at Wycombe General Hospital and Amersham Hospital may be required.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
1. Ensure that the expiry dates of all stock held within the Pharmacy department is assessed and develop processes to ensure maximum usability of stock before expiry.
2. Communicate with and organise the transfer or sale of stock medicines to other NHS Hospital Pharmacies to achieve value from medicines nearing their expiry date, under the supervision of the Pharmacy Technician Team Manager.
3. Assist in the delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and error trend analysis.
4. Assist the specialist technician in the devising and completion of workplace audits to ensure best practice, efficiency, and appropriateness of service in the storage and ordering of medicines.
