We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Compensation Accountant to join a financial services business in London. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accurate accounting, reporting, and analysis of all employee compensation across the business. Key Responsibilities Account for all areas of employee compensation including base salary, variable pay, bonuses, benefits, and equity-based awards. Prepare monthly compensation journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Support the month-end and year-end close process with analysis of compensation accruals and variances. Collaborate with HR and Payroll to validate compensation data and ensure accuracy. Assist in budgeting and forecasting of compensation costs. Ensure compliance with internal controls and support audit requests related to compensation. Help develop tools and processes to improve efficiency and transparency in compensation reporting. Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis for Finance and other key stakeholders. Key Requirements Part-qualified or qualified by experience with a strong foundation in accounting principles. Previous experience in compensation or payroll accounting, ideally within financial services or a similar fast-paced environment. Strong Excel skills - confident working with large datasets, formulas, and models. Excellent communication skills - able to clearly explain financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders. High attention to detail, with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities. A proactive and collaborative mindset, with a willingness to take ownership and drive continuous improvement.
