We are currently recruiting for an experienced Intelligence Officer to work on a 6-month contract in Birmingham, West Midlands. The role will be based with a UK Police Force, and so applicants must undergo national security checks.
The role is primarily office-based and hours of work are Monday to Friday. The rate of pay will be £18.99 per hour PAYE.
Role Overview:
The officer is to be the primary intelligence gateway officer for the Regional Prisons Intelligence Unit (RPIU). Responsibilities include receiving, assessing, sanitising, and disseminating intelligence between RPIU and stakeholders. The gateway is the single point of entry for requests for service of the RPIU.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Sanitise intelligence for requirements into a form suitable for dissemination, and request and manage Form of Words if appropriate.
2. Quality assure outgoing intelligence generated.
3. Maintain an understanding of the operational picture and intelligence requirements.
4. Identify intelligence gaps.
5. Coach intelligence requesters in the sorts of questions that can be answered.
6. Influence and negotiate with stakeholders.
7. Identify and provide timely information to contribute to the development of the RPIU intelligence.
8. Manage group email, ensuring effective triage.
9. Prioritise requests.
10. Evaluate information to determine its intelligence potential.
11. Conduct research, collate results, and report findings.
12. Interrogate appropriate Force and National databases and systems to develop intelligence.
13. Research internal and external systems to parallel source sensitive intelligence.
14. Contribute to the preparation and presentation of intelligence summaries and subject packages to support investigations.
15. Evaluate data for usefulness and trends.
Essential Skills:
1. Information Handling Skills.
2. Effective communication both written and oral, with the ability to exercise initiative within this specialist field.
3. Influencing and negotiating with stakeholders.
4. Flexibility and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, prioritising workloads and progressing issues, with minimal supervision.
5. Understanding of the operational picture and intelligence requirements.
6. Identification of intelligence gaps.
7. Use of IT systems which enable data restructuring and presentation.
8. De-confliction of operations.
9. Ability to build relationships with other Intelligence Teams or specialist providers of capabilities.
10. IT skills, including literacy in common software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
11. Maintain operational data, including the application of filters, formulas, and lookups to spreadsheet data.
12. Must be security vetted to a minimum of SC Enhanced and MV, or be able to achieve such vetting.
13. IPP (Intelligence Professionalisation Portfolio).
