One of Exeter's modern and supportive law firms is looking for an experienced Property Litigation Lawyer to join their team. This opportunity is to join the firm's busy Registered Providers department within the Housing Management side of the team. This team deals with everything related to managing our client’s housing stock and their tenants’ conduct. Principally, this involves dealing with disrepair claims, anti-social behaviour injunctions, breach of tenancy injunctions, possession claims, property and land disputes including adverse possession and boundary disputes, and leasehold disputes. Members of the team regularly appear before County Courts and the Property Tribunal.
There is an expectation that you will conduct your own advocacy (at least through directions and case management hearings) as well as provide ad hoc advice to our clients. Additionally, there will be direct client contact outside of a case setting through the delivery of targeted training to clients, information to clients through newsletters, and managing client relationships.
The firm has two roles at slightly different levels, for someone at Associate level and someone at Senior Associate level, who can bring a positive and effective persona to the team. You will have litigation experience and a practical, proactive approach. In addition, you will need to be an effective communicator ensuring that all clients have the information they need. Supervising junior members of the team will form part of this role. Initially, you will be office-based in Exeter to help you familiarize yourself with the team, the work, and the support available to you. While the team is happy to discuss hybrid working arrangements, this role will require the successful candidate to work a minimum of 2 days per week in the office alongside other commitments the role will require such as Court attendance.
This firm has continued to grow, both in size and reputation, over the past few years, to a point now where they have over 200 employees, with a fantastic head office. The offices are open plan, and the firm enjoys an inclusive and diverse culture. They believe in giving back to the community and are prolific at supporting local charities and organizations with fundraising and other supportive activity. They enjoy a modern, forward-thinking culture, without being cut-throat or too demanding, focusing on ensuring that they have "happy teams" of people!
