Treeton Parish Council is an active Council looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer to build on our work and achievements over the last few years and drive forward further improvement. The post is part time, 12 hours a week (annualised) which includes at least one evening meeting per month, working predominantly from home but with a regular presence in the village. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wishes to work from home, yet become involved with the life of a small village community. The successful candidate will ideally have experience and knowledge of the public sector, have proven administration skills to be able to undertake a wide range of administrative work. This will include preparation of agendas, minute taking, managing and setting budgets, record keeping, compilation of correspondence, producing monthly financial reports and annual accounts. Computer equipment will be supplied for home use and there will be a requirement to store at home a small number of Council files. The ideal applicant would have varied and extensive financial and administrative experience, IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Payroll and accounting software. Self-motivation and an enthusiasm for actively working with residents of a village community will be essential. As Clerk the post holder will manage a staff member and deliver the day-to-day work of the Parish Council, working closely with Parish Councillors to plan and deliver agreed objectives for the Parish. As Responsible Financial Officer you will manage all aspects of the Parish Council’s accounts and budget. If not already held, a commitment to study for the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CILCA) qualification would be required.
