Job summary Due to the expansion of our regional thrombectomy service an exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Stroke Nurse Practitioner to join the Stroke Team within the Neurology Department. The post will be based on internal rotations including day shifts, night shifts and will be in support of the Hyper Acute Pathway. The successful candidates will be motivated, forward thinking individuals who will support nursing and medical colleagues in the treatment and assessment of people who have stroke. They will work at the single point of entry for stroke which is the Neuro Assessment Unit, and the Hyper Acute Stroke unit. You will work in a team of other Stroke Nurse Practitioners, and you will be expected to provide professional and clinical leadership for the Stroke Pathway. Sheffield became a Regional Stroke Unit in July 2019, taking patients for emergency stroke care from Both Rotherham, and Barnsley. Stroke care is closely linked to research where evidence-based care is at the heart of the delivery of care, we have a vibrant team with a forward-looking outlook. Main duties of the job Fully participate in the leadership and the delivery of high-quality patient care within the Head and Neck Care Group. Be a skilled practitioner in Hyper Acute Stroke care delivery. Provide clinical expertise in supporting the delivery of high standards of nursing care for patients within the Stroke pathway. Work collaboratively with the multi professional team to develop and maintain a quality service for patients within the speciality. Provide expert clinical nursing, education, and advice in all aspects of the acute stroke. Facilitate an improvement in the quality of health and outcome of care to this client group.
