Registered Nurse - Trauma & Orthopaedic Outpatients

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to work in our busy Trauma & Orthopaedic Outpatient Department at Weston General Hospital.
This may also involve rotation opportunities to the Orthopaedic Elective Unit (Knightstone Ward). This is a Full Time 37.5 hour a week permanent position.
You will be required to plan, implement, evaluate and take responsibility for the nursing care provided to the patients attending our clinics.
Duties will include performing and supporting patients undergoing a variety of trauma and orthopaedic procedures. You will need to display excellent leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills as the orthopaedic service is an ever-changing environment.
Main duties of the job
Communication and Relationship skills:
1. Demonstrate politeness, courtesy and sensitivity in providing compassionate care for patients, visitors/relatives and colleagues.
2. Contribute towards sharing good practice within the ward/department and Trust wide.
3. Promote a positive image of University Hospital Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust at all times.
4. Work cohesively with all members of the team and promote effective liaison with all members of the multi-disciplinary team in ensuring that the very best services to patients are provided at all times.
5. Communicate effectively within the team, participate in motivating and supporting team members and maintain confidentiality with patients and carers. Give written and verbal advice/teaching to patients and carers.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* RGN/EN
* Current NMC Registration
* Fluent in the English Language - verified either by English taught qualification or a pass in an English language assessment
Skills and Abilities
* Able to demonstrate awareness or importance of working as part of a team
* Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing using the English language proficiently
* Able to complete accurate & legible patient records
* Able to prioritise own workload and that of others as appropriate
* Able to work under own initiative within boundaries of role
* IV Certificated
* Motivated and flexible
* Ability to teach students and untrained staff to develop skills & willingness to develop skills
* I.T Skills
* Undertake assessment of students/NVQ
* Ability to contribute new ideas
* Ability to adapt to change
* Demonstrate awareness of evidence-based practice
Knowledge and Experience
* Able to demonstrate an understanding of audit and quality issues
* Willingness to develop within role
* Experience of wound care, removal of clips and sutures
* Able to perform ECGs
* Venepuncture
* Politically astute regarding changes in NHS/developments in NHS
* Knowledge of the area applying for
* Competent in VAC and PICCO dressings
