Helio Display Materials is at the forefront of innovation, and we’re seeking a Python Database Engineer to join us on a 6 month FTC to design, build, and maintain the tools and infrastructure that drive our scientific data management.

You will develop databases, APIs, and dashboards that transform raw scientific outputs into actionable insights, supporting our teams in their pioneering materials research.
Collaborating closely with scientists and engineers, you’ll ensure data systems are efficient, scalable, and user-friendly, helping accelerate our mission to redefine materials development.
Key Responsibilities In this role, you’ll take the lead in designing and managing the data infrastructure that powers our scientific innovation.
From building PostgreSQL databases to developing Python APIs hosted on AWS, you’ll create solutions that streamline data management and integration.
Your work will involve building dashboards to visualize data, crafting Python packages for easy interaction with scientific outputs, and ensuring our cloud infrastructure is secure and scalable.
Design and implement PostgreSQL schemas for scientific and experimental data.
Develop and maintain a Python-based API for efficient data ingestion and querying.
Manage cloud infrastructure using AWS services such as S3, RDS, CDK, and ECS.
Required Skills and Experience Strong understanding of relational database concepts.
Proven expertise in: PostgreSQL schema design and implementation.
Python API development for database interaction and data management.
Building dashboards and Python packages for data visualization and integration.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with AWS services like S3, RDS, CDK, and ECS.
Familiarity with scientific or experimental data management.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
