Our Planning and Strategic Consulting team, within our Transportation business line, has an exciting opportunity for a Planning Director to lead the delivery of transportation planning and consulting services across the North of England.
In this role, you will have a specific focus on operational delivery, project and resource management, workload pipeline, people management and staff engagement. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our focus on people, clients, technical excellence and quality, whilst driving sustainable growth across regions and end markets.
Here’s what you’ll do:
1. Collaborate: Working with a blend of our teams including work winning and other end markets to expand and enhance client relationships ensuring we maintain and grow a healthy future pipeline.
2. Deliver: The Planning and Strategic Consulting team is involved throughout the lifecycle of transportation and people and place projects from early policy and advisory work through development of strategic, outline and full business cases to assessment and management of developments, stakeholder engagement and the monitoring and evaluation of project outcomes for a range of public and private sector clients.
3. Oversee: Ensure that we are resourced with teams that have the right qualities to provide the services and standards that our clients expect for current and future needs.
4. Provide Expertise: Offer technical knowledge and expertise to the project and client teams on all aspects of multi-disciplinary projects.
5. Ensure Quality: Working through the complexities of our Transportation projects, you will hold our clients’ hands and overcome problems in unison when they inevitably arise.
Key Responsibilities:
The Planning Director North will be accountable for safety, quality, ethics, people management and delivery of the operational performance of this $8M business; specifically, they will:
1. Lead by example by visibly driving our Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E) culture.
2. Be Accountable for the Regions performance versus the Financial Year plan.
3. Ensure that the Region has in place the right resource management processes.
4. Maintain a culture where AECOM is recognised as a great place to work.
5. Work alongside the Work Winning team to support client development and growth opportunities.
6. Apply governance to all regional key pursuit Go/No Go Processes.
7. Identify and attract new talent and lead strategic and senior recruitment within the Region.
8. Drive change programs to increase efficiency, profitability, and operational quality.
9. Drive project delivery and commercial excellence.
Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:
1. You are a highly motivated, organised, and proactive leader with a proven track record in the transport and development planning consultancy industry.
2. A track record of achieving/exceeding financial KPIs and driving business growth.
3. Effective communication, interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills.
4. Flexible and proactive approach and ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
5. Experience in leading teams to deliver project outcomes across a wide range of sectors and travel modes.
6. Demonstrated success in implementing change programs and managing data-driven performance improvements.
7. Proven ability to build and retain a diverse and inclusive workforce.
Preferred Qualifications:
Membership of a recognised professional body (Preferably Chartered). Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate discipline.
