Your new company Hays Accountancy and Finance are partnering exclusively with a successful and well-established SME part of an international group to recruit a dynamic & hands-on Management Accountant/Deputy Finance Manager for their site based in Hereford, Herefordshire. A varied accounting role with succession planning to Finance Manager within 12 – 18 months, the position will involve a range of duties from financial reporting, month-end procedures to budgeting/forecasting and analysis with progression into a role that will involve overseeing & mentoring a small accounting team. Open to qualified/part-qualified Accountants or finance professionals who are qualified by experience, looking to really add value to a business within an interesting sector. Your new role Your key duties will involve financial reporting processes, including the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements with UK GAAP & IFRS. Month-end close including journal entries, variance analysis and account reconciliations. Maintaining fixed asset register, including additions, disposals and depreciation calculations, budgeting/forecasting processes along with preparing VAT returns and assisting with corporate tax filings. You will support audit processes, liaising with external auditors during annual audits, identify/implement process/systems improvements to enhance internal controls, and maintain the general ledger. You will lead and mentor a small accounting team, along with providing financial analysis to support management with decision-making. The role will be tailored around the right finance professional with clear progression to Finance Manager and your duties will develop as you grow in the role. What you'll need to succeed To be considered for this hands-on and varied Deputy Finance Manager role, you will need experience in a similar position, qualified/part-qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or qualified by experience. Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with effective communication to partner at all levels internally/externally. You will have key MS Excel skills, trained in a range of financial systems and be able to work independently but also within a team environment. You will be willing to learn and comfortable adapting to business needs. Experience with UK GAAP and IFRS, SAP financial system, and supervisory/people management skills would be advantageous but not essential. What you'll get in return This varied Deputy Finance Manager role offers a salary between £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, dependable on experience, based in Hereford, Herefordshire.
