The Fremantle Trust has an exciting opportunity for an Activity Co-Ordinator to join our team on a part-time basis, based at our care home in Chalfont St Peter. The main purpose of the role is to initiate an ongoing programme of leisure and recreational activities of a consistently high standard for people who use The Fremantle Trust’s service.
Part of The Fremantle Trust, Mulberry Court care home provides residential care and respite care for older people in a safe and welcoming environment.
Mulberry Court was purpose-built to provide a high-quality and safe environment for older people. It is one of The Fremantle Trust’s smaller care homes with 23 boutique-style rooms located over two floors. The modern décor stylishly blends traditional and contemporary style, to create a relaxed, comfortable home. Each room is beautifully furnished and has an en-suite bathroom. The communal areas are modern, bright, and include a lounge, dining room, and kitchenette on both floors. The enclosed landscaped garden invites residents and visitors to take in the fresh air or participate in activities in a safe and stimulating setting.
Principal tasks will include:
1. Produce an ongoing programme of events (in-house entertainment, outings, and group activities) which are both mentally and physically stimulating and of interest to people who use services.
2. Regularly promote leisure and recreation within the service.
3. Consult with the manager, people who use services, and other staff members when planning and coordinating leisure and recreational pursuits.
4. Review and obtain the Manager’s approval of all external suppliers of leisure and recreation services and entertainers prior to engaging them.
5. Undertake any necessary risk assessments in connection with leisure and recreation and verify Fremantle’s insurance cover.
6. Ensure that the individual social needs and occupational interests of each person who uses the service are identified and logged in the Support Plan by key workers.
7. Maintain accurate records of leisure and recreation within the service.
8. Ensure that day-to-day tasks and routines are carried out to contribute to the smooth running of the service as a whole.
9. Actively promote the service and Fremantle by clear, respectful, and helpful communication with all potential customers including people who use services, relatives, health and social care professionals, other officials and contractors, visitors, as well as Fremantle colleagues.
10. Contribute to the success of the whole staff team by respecting colleagues and participating in team meetings and communications systems.
11. Any other duties consistent with the business of Fremantle, the job, and hours of work as may reasonably be required.
