Tonbridge and Malling are going through change, and this is an exciting time to join the planning team. Our track record in planning and development has delivered a progressive approach to growth and economic investment, balanced with preserving the heritage and natural quality of the Borough. We are currently experiencing significant interest in investment across the Borough which is resulting in a range of planning applications being submitted for our determination. About the role: We are seeking an individual to work within a small team undertaking investigations into alleged failures to comply with town planning legislation. This may include development carried out without planning permission, or not in accordance with approved plans. The work involves receiving and responding to allegations of breaches from members of the public, carrying out site inspections and investigations across the Borough and, under the instruction of professional planners, seeking the cessation of identified breaches. As well as being readily able to interpret maps and plans and work with IT systems, you will need good communication skills, tact and the discretion necessary to deal with potentially confrontational situations. Previous experience in an investigative capacity or knowledge of planning legislation and procedures would be an advantage.
