JOB DESCRIPTION FOR A NURSERY PRACTITIONER OSTERLEY PARK DAY NURSERY Reports to: Nursery Manager/Deputy Manager Responsibilities: Ensuring a high standard of care, covering all areas of the EYFS Implementing the daily routine in the base room Covering all areas of a key person responsibilities Duties To have excellent knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage to enable you to follow the nurseries policies and procedures. To be aware of all staff roles within the nursery. For example, Senco, Child Protection Officer, First Aiders, Fire Officer etc. Ensure a high quality of care and education for the under-fives, following the EYFS to ensure a stimulating and varied program that suits the individual child. Ensure a safe environment for the children and adults, with regards to good hygiene, safe and clean equipment which conform to the health and safety procedures. Prepare and fully set out the nursery room before the children’s arrival, keep it clean and tidy during the daily sessions and tidy up at the end of the day. Provide and take part in all nursery activities. Listen to, encourage, enable, stimulate and ensure the safe keeping of the children. Actively encourage and participate in parent involvement and comply with the partnership with parent’s policies of the nursery by liaising with parents, nursery team and outside agencies. Actively participate in the key person policy. Help settle children taking into account their particular needs and liaise with the nursery Manager and / or Deputy Manager to discuss how the settling in is progressing. Organise and take part in outings, visits and special events. Attend staff meetings, whether during the nursery day or in the evening (where necessary). Attend training courses during the nursery day, evening and / or weekends if necessary. Communicate with the nursery Manager / Deputy Manager on any matters requiring attention such as concerns regarding a child, equipment needing repair or replacing. Help keep records of register, accident/incident forms, medication, planning sheets, children’s observations, tracking books, learning journals, self-assessments, risk assessments, etc. Actively promote British Values and have a good understanding and follow the Prevent Duty. Maintain strict confidentiality with any information regarding the children, their families and staff that is learnt as part of the job. Actively participate in the equal opportunities policy of the nursery. Ensure you comply with child ratio regulations and suitably qualified staff are in each room at all times. Ensure you comply with safeguarding children and health and safety at all times. Take an active role in fire evacuation procedures. Ensure meal times for the children are pleasant and a social sharing experience. And any other duties that maybe required of you.
