Main duties of the job
1. Provide clinical leadership, coordinate and ensure a high standard of patient care is delivered in an effective and efficient manner reflecting the overall philosophy of the service, on a regular basis.
2. To assess, plan, implement, deliver and evaluate care in line with local and national guidelines.
3. Act as a role model delivering care as an Autonomous Practitioner, in a haemodialysis setting within the satellite environment, working within agreed protocols and guidelines.
4. To partake in the supervision & preceptorship/mentorship of pre/post registration students & junior staff.
5. Act as a Clinical Shift Leader for the unit. In the absence of the ward manager within the unit to undertake the role of Nurse-In-Charge (NIC).
6. Anticipate the changing needs of patients and families.
7. On a nurse led basis supervise junior and unregistered nurses in the delivery of care of chronically sick renal patients in varying stages of illness and from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
8. Work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to ensure holistic care.
9. Contribute to the development of a learning culture to ensure growth and development of the nursing team and students.
10. Successful achievement of competencies and training is required to facilitate full undertaking of the role.

Qualifications Essential
* Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC register
Experience Essential
* Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff
* Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD
* Can demonstrate understanding / experience / willingness to be a practice based supervisor / assessor as detailed in the Nursing & Midwifery Council ( NMC ) standards for student supervision and assessment
* Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
* Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff
* Experience of mentoring undergraduate students
* Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department
* Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice.
