What's involved with this role: Interim Homelessness Review Officer Job Ref: NNC RQ1466182 Pay Rate: £28.15 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, 09:00 - 17:30 Role Length: This opening assignment is for 2-3 months City: KETTERING Standard DBS disclosure required Predominantly remote with limited office presence. Hybrid role requiring in-person meetings with customers in Corby, Kettering, and Wellingborough to discuss their review requests. As the Reviews Officer, you will take the lead in managing the statutory housing review process under Part 7, Section 202 of the Housing Act 1996, as well as Part 6 (housing allocation decisions), ensuring that all decisions made by the Housing Advice and Options Service are legally compliant, robust, and defensible. Your role will involve reviewing homelessness decisions, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and ensuring adherence to legislative requirements, guidance, case law, and Council policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage statutory reviews ensuring that all reviews are completed within statutory timescales and in accordance with relevant legislation, case law, and best practice. Ensure that all decisions are robust, defensible, and legally sound by providing expert oversight, quality assurance, and feedback to decision-makers. Manage a personal caseload including complex and high-profile reviews ensuring detailed investigations, clear communication with applicants, and high-quality decision letters are produced. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including legal representatives, advocacy groups, and partner agencies, to ensure transparency, fairness, and effective communication throughout the review process. Key requirements: Considerable knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation and in delivering housing access and homelessness services Knowledge of part 7 of the 1996 housing act and the homelessness act 2002. Minimum 2 years as a Review Officer, specifically handling Section 202 housing reviews. Experience of dealing with homelessness legislation as it affects landlord/tenant relationships or homelessness Experience of working with homeless people, knowledge of part 7 of the 1996 housing act and the homelessness act 2002.
