Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Undergraduate Medical Education Department at MFT. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced individual to work in a high performing team coordinating, administering and recruiting for the Year 3 clinical placements. The post, based at Oxford Road, will be for 12 months covering maternity leave. There may be occasions when travel is required. We operate flexible working and blended working from home and the office.
The undergraduate team deliver the undergraduate medical curriculum to 450 medical students based at MFT Oxford Road and associated teaching hospitals. The post holder will be required to liaise closely with staff based within the Trust, the University of Manchester, counterparts in other Manchester hospitals and colleagues in District General Hospitals.
The postholder will be responsible for organising teaching sessions, placements, room bookings and responding to student and supervisor queries in a timely manner. The postholder will be expected to plan and prioritise their workload, so organisational ability, forward planning and excellent communication skills are essential.
Main duties of the job
* Responsible for organising all student placements on a rotational basis (including international students) across Manchester as set out by the current undergraduate curriculum. This includes planning complex individual student tracks.
* Responsible for organising specialised placements (SSCP and APEP) and liaising with students, local educational colleagues and educational colleagues at other clinical education campuses and clinical education providers to disseminate information in a timely manner.
* Be responsive to student enquiries and for dealing with day-to-day queries, signposting where necessary in relation to student's personal issues, programme advice and assessment.
* Recruit educational supervisors for education modules.
* Liaise with the Academic Lead, Hospital Dean and Head of Service with any student or placement issues.
* Liaise and negotiate with clinicians, educational colleagues and external providers to ensure programme delivery and minimise cancellations by agreeing cover.
* Liaise with Academic Lead regarding the recruitment of new supervisors for the programme.
