Main duties will include the following; To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors at all times To deliver an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress To plan activities which ensure each child is working towards the Early Learning outcomes To develop partnerships with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents to increase involvement in their child’s development To be a key person, ensuring records are maintained sufficiently to inform of progress against the Early Learning goals, including observations, assessments, daily attendance register, accident and incident book, risk assessments To understand and work to nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies To ensure that the nursery is a safe environment for children, staff and others Helping to ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times Undertaking designated officer roles as directed Working together with other professionals in the local area for the benefit of children and families Working in partnership with senior management to update and review the self-evaluation and improvement plan Undertaking any other reasonable duties as directed by the nursery lead, in accordance with the nursery aims and objectives Essential Skills and Experience: Knowledge and proven experience of working with children age 0-5 years Empathy and understanding of children under five years of age Excellent working knowledge of the EYFS and current Ofsted statutory guidance Knowledge and proven practical experience of implementing good quality learning opportunities A commitment to quality in all areas, with a high level of motivation and enthusiasm Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal The ability to be innovative and creative The ability to write reports and keep clear and accurate records, with administrative and basic IT skills Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative Excellent organisational, motivational and negotiation skills Reliable, flexible and able A calm and caring nature A creative thinker with a good sense of humour Able to commit with the ability to perform under stress Able to make decisions and be accountable with the ability to work at all levels A level 3 Early Years/Childcare qualification is required for this role Paediatric first aid
