Laboratory Technician
Contract: 2 Year Fixed Term (Office and Site Based)
About the Role
We are excited to offer a 2-year fixed-term contract for a Laboratory Technician to be part of the Malt Distilling Laboratory facilities in Moray House, Roseisle and when required, at our production sites. Carrying out a varied range of analysis on barley, malt, new make and mature spirit, yeast, and co-products.
This role requires a full-time presence in Elgin, Scotland, with daily attendance at Moray House, operating a one in four weekend shift in Roseisle and visiting other sites as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Reporting to the Analytical Manager, the main purpose of the role is to ensure smooth running of the Malt Distilling Laboratory and complete analysis to a high standard.
* To be proficient in > 70 % of analysis that is carried out within the Malt Distilling Laboratory.
* Produce, interpret and analyse data to provide insights to the wider business which will help make operational decisions.
* To ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation.
* Support the delivery of analysis by chipping into the planning of weekly tasks and providing day-to-day coordination support when required.
* Working with the Analytical Manager to implement Improvement Projects which will benefit the Malt Distilling Laboratory and the wider business.
* Act as point of contact for members of the operational teams who are seeking information.
* To contribute to the proficiency schemes.
* To support the business' stretching service, cost and quality requirements which demand that all assets operate at efficient performance.
To be successful in the role, you will need:
* Degree level qualification or equivalent in a science-related field or be qualified through validated experience.
* Excellent analytical skills with ability to drive improvements.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate to all levels.
* Ability to handle a variety of tasks and prioritise self and others accordingly.
* Able to work as individual but also part of team.
* Meticulous attention to detail.
* Critical analytical thinking.
* Understanding of Health and Safety requirements relating to laboratory work.
* Track record of excellent engagement and communication skills.
* Proficient in use of standard business (MS Office) packages.
* Full Clean Driving License.
Good to have knowledge of Distilling & Malting processes, analytical methods & techniques; Wet Chemistry, and laboratory information systems however not vital.
