Following a recent restructuring, we are seeking a dynamic and influential leader to join us as the Head of Operational HR. Role Overview: As the Head of Operational HR, you will report directly to the Director of Workforce and Local Services. You will lead a large team of HR, Payroll, and Health and Safety professionals, providing services to both the Council and a range of traded clients. A commercial mindset is essential for this role. Key Responsibilities: Lead and inspire a team of HR, Payroll, and Health and Safety professionals. Oversee three Service Managers, each focusing on Resourcing, Employee Relations & Health and Safety, and Pay & Systems. Drive service improvement across all areas of responsibility. Contribute to the overall HR strategy of the Council. Ideal Candidate: We are looking for a seasoned HR professional with extensive experience in: Optimising HR systems Recruiting senior leaders Managing complex employee relations matters You will support your team in achieving positive outcomes and be a key contributor to the Council's HR strategy. Qualifications and Experience: FCIPD with significant senior-level experience in a local authority or similar setting. Strong leadership and management skills, including matrix management. Proven track record in developing and implementing complex workforce transformation programmes. Experience in designing and delivering innovative people solutions. Extensive experience in managing relationships with internal and external customers. In-depth knowledge of HR legislation and policy. Successful track record in leading change programmes.
