HAZOP Chair - Nuclear Safety
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A HAZOP CHAIR TO JOIN A NUCLEAR DEFENCE PROJECT
* Location: Remote - Infrequent travel to client site (Devonport)
* Duration: 12 Months
* Hours: 37.5 per week
* Rate: DOE, but paid via Umbrella (inside IR35)
The Nuclear Safety HAZOP Chair is responsible for leading Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies to identify and assess potential safety risks associated with nuclear facilities and operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in nuclear safety, risk assessment methodologies, and a deep understanding of HAZOP processes. The Chair will facilitate multidisciplinary teams, ensuring comprehensive analysis and effective communication of safety findings.
WHAT WILL THE HAZOP CHAIR BE DOING?
* Plan and facilitate HAZOP sessions, guiding teams through the identification and assessment of hazards and operability concerns in nuclear operations.
* Work closely with engineers, safety analysts, and other stakeholders to collect essential data and ensure comprehensive evaluations.
* Develop and review detailed reports outlining HAZOP findings, recommendations, and action plans while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
* Perform risk analyses based on HAZOP outcomes to support the prioritization of safety measures and mitigation strategies.
* Deliver training and mentorship on HAZOP methodologies and safety protocols to team members.
* Ensure all HAZOP studies align with local and international nuclear safety regulations and standards.
WE NEED THE HAZOP CHAIR TO HAVE…
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
* Experience: Experience in nuclear safety, risk assessment, or related fields, with specific experience in leading HAZOP studies.
* Certifications: Relevant certifications in safety management or risk assessment (e.g., HAZOP, ISO 31000) are highly desirable.
* Technical Skills: Strong understanding of nuclear safety principles, HAZOP methodology, and risk management practices.
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
* Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in high-stakes environments.
