Summary:
A substitute teacher is responsible for enabling each child to pursue his or her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his or her regular teacher. A substitute teacher is responsible for carrying out the lesson plans of the regular teacher and meeting the duties of teaching as outlines in the policies of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
2. Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
3. Supports and adheres to the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees and policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese
4. Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
5. Provide instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students
6. Supervise students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, specials, hallways, on field trips, and/or during before and after school programs
7. Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs
8. Perform other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administration
9. Uses approved, corrective, and positive discipline procedures in dealing with inappropriate student conduct
10. Collaborates with school personnel to enhance the work environment and support academic programming
11. Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
12. Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
13. Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.

15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
16. High school diploma or equivalent required
17. Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience
18. Minimum of 1 year of experience in substituting or teaching experience preferred
License and Credentials
19. Reliable transportation
20. Valid driver license
21. Valid vehicle insurance
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
22. Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs
23. Provide instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of student
24. General supervision of the class
25. Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
26. Must have good written and verbal skills;
27. Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
