Industrial Chemist Annual Salary: £40k - £46k Location: Somerset Job Type: Full-time, Mon-Fri, typical working hours. Join a leading UK manufacturer in the fertiliser industry as an Industrial Chemist. This role is crucial for supporting our Operations department in enhancing products, processes, and manufacturing techniques, as well as assisting our Sales & Marketing team to meet the evolving needs of our customers and the marketplace. Day-to-day of the role: Provide support to Operations, including assistance with specialist coating processes, plant operations, process improvement, and technical production issues. Support Sales & Marketing by providing bespoke formulation solutions for customers. Research and develop new products based on opportunities identified by other business areas. Conduct experiments, analyse data, and optimize formulations. Work collaboratively and cooperatively with colleagues across the business, ensuring clear and effective communication. Manage multiple projects and priorities with flexibility and resourcefulness, catering to a variety of products, many of which are bespoke formulation projects. Required Skills & Qualifications: BSc/MSc in Chemistry, Material Science (or related science eg. formulation science) and proven industry experience with chemical product development from concept to commercialisation, minimum 3-5 years industry experience ideally. Experience in chemical sciences with the ability to apply knowledge to practical outcomes. Strong collaborative and communication skills. A “completer finisher” attitude and the ability to solve specific practical problems. Flexibility and resourcefulness in a small business environment. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Experience in fertilisers or related fields is desirable but not essential.
