The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available to join our client, who is a specialist in the Chemical manufacturing industry, leading the way in sustainable solutions in materials science. With a strong global presence, this role will give the successful candidate an opportunity to work with teams from around the world.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
Have responsibility for the indirect spend for manufacturing sites in EMEA. This will include leading large cross-functional project teams through the sourcing and procurement process.
Develop a regional plan based on the overall global category strategy, current market conditions and the business environment.
Perform indirect procurement function; including bidder prequalification, form of contract selection, bid solicitation and evaluation, contract negotiation, contract award, contract administration and close out.
Maintain a largely strategic role with indirect materials and services for the EMEA region and support sourcing activities for critical materials of the business such as capital projects, plant services, contractors, equipment servicing, MRO and lab suppliers.
Resolve nonconformance issues, back-charges and claims in a timely manner to minimise the Company's exposure. Identify areas of risk within supply chain; implement appropriate mitigation measures.
Leverage internal networks including outage optimization to deliver best in class performance, total cost effectiveness, value creation and delivery.
Lead development and execution of complex procurement strategies and projects over the medium and long term for materials and services aligned with the goals and objectives of the internal stakeholders.
Collaborate effectively internally and with suppliers. Develop effective multi-year strategies with an effective understanding of market dynamics and internal demand. Responsible for the end-to-end cycle of category strategy, sourcing, contracting, P2P, Supplier Management and Supplier Quality Management including the development of Supplier Scorecards and KPIs.
Articulate and gain alignment from senior managers/executives on the implementation of the procurement strategies.
Bring industry leading procurement practices to execute upon the developed strategies.
Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the supplier relationship management program for key regional strategic suppliers.
Develop negotiation strategies which are aligned with the business strategies and lead those negotiations to completion while pursuing full value and mitigating risk.
Analyse financials, market risk, and supply risk for each project and be able to mitigate risk while bringing the best value to Ingevity.
Knowledge of legal as well as commercial terms and conditions with the ability to effectively negotiate and draft legal language to mitigate risk.
Drive results through analytics, business acumen, personal leadership and developing business cases to support Procurement initiatives.
Consolidate spending and provide thought leadership to achieve organization outcomes while ensuring that Ingevity’s policies and core values are upheld and adhered to.
Manage, coach and develop the Site Buyer(s) assisting with day to day buying duties.
Liaise with Global Procurement to ensure effective co-ordination of essential site purchasing activities, global contracts & purchasing improvement projects.
Define and manage the supplier performance reviews including audits (ISO 9000)
Work with the engineering team on procurement strategies for capital expenditures and ensure the team understands and follows the proper protocols for capital procurement.
Work with the operations, maintenance, and lab teams on service and supplies procurement to ensure protocols are followed and savings are recognised.You will have the following qualifications & experience
Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain Management. MBA and/or CPM/CPSM
Extensive procurement experience or equivalent experience in relevant business categories.
Indirect spend experience for manufacturing sites in EMEA
Experience leading large global procurement initiatives for a mature procurement organisation.
Previous experience with managing direct report(s)
Successfully lead negotiations for global, multi-year, multimillion-dollar contracts in indirect categories.
Must be a team player and adapt well to a multitasking, fast paced environment with changing priorities and challenges.It’s great if you also have the following
Previously worked in the Chemical industry (or similar).
Project Management experience.
