Energy and Utility Skills is looking for a dynamic and experienced Skills and Standards Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of workforce development across the energy and utilities sector.
* Location: Hybrid / Solihull (2 days per week in office)

About the role.
The Skills and Standards Manager will oversee the development, delivery, and governance of occupational mapping and standard-setting activities to meet the industry’s evolving needs.
As a key advocate for the sector’s skills agenda, you will maintain high-level engagement with stakeholders such as regulatory bodies, government officials, training providers, and employers to ensure alignment with workforce competency requirements. By leading industry groups, managing key task projects, and driving the delivery of essential standards, you will amplify Energy & Utility Skills’ position as the authoritative voice for skills and standards.
In this impactful role, you will also contribute to identifying commercial opportunities, ensuring that the organisation’s services are relevant and deliver exceptional value to its stakeholders. This role is ideal for a proactive leader eager to make a tangible difference in one of the UK’s most vital sectors.
Who we are looking for.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional with a proven track record in leading standard-setting or occupational competence initiatives within an Ofqual-regulated environment. The ideal candidate will thrive on collaboration and demonstrate an ability to foster strong relationships with employers and stakeholders at all levels.
You will bring strategic insight, operational expertise and the ability to manage complex work programmes while maintaining high-quality outputs under tight deadlines. A natural leader, you will excel in guiding high-performing teams and confidently influencing key decision-makers across the industry.
Your communication skills will set you apart, with a talent for delivering impactful presentations and public speaking engagements. Familiarity with the energy and utilities sector and its unique workforce challenges will be advantageous, as will an ability to identify and act upon commercial opportunities.
