We are looking for an enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly nursing team at Stone Cross Surgery.
We pride ourselves in providing a high standard of care in a supportive environment delivering a patient focused service.
Previous experience is essential.
The role is 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday with the occasional evening and Saturday session. This is done on a rota basis.
Clinics will be based at Stone Cross, Pevensey Bay and Westham surgeries.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will cover General Practice HCA duties, which will include, but are not limited to:
1. Assisting with long term conditions clinics such as diabetes, asthma, COPD
2. NHS Health Checks
3. Flu and Pneumonia vaccinations
4. ECGs
5. Suture and clip removal
6. Ordering nursing stock and equipment
7. Precise and accurate recording on patient records
You will work alongside the existing nursing team to ensure:
1. Stock levels are maintained by ordering, rotation and sorting deliveries.
2. Completion of cleanliness, infection prevention control measures and health and safety requirements of the role.
3. Doctors are supported in their clinics.
4. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all patients.

We are a busy practice operating over 3 sites and supporting a practice population of 14,500+ patients.
The team consists of 6 GP Partners, 2 salaried GPs, 6 practitioners, 4 Practice Nurses, 1 HCA, and 1 Phlebotomist, alongside a wider administrative team. Supported by PCN ARRS staff including Clinical Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Social Prescribers, and Health Coaches.

You will be expected to manage your own pre-booked clinics and undertake consultations within the designated times. You should be able to work to a high standard of care under supervision, accept coaching and guidance, and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Good organisational and time management skills, adaptability to change, flexibility to handle different situations, and a caring and compassionate nature are essential. You must be able to undertake mandatory training and work well within a team. Further training opportunities are available both externally and within the surgery to expand your skills in areas of interest.
